Web Portal
The Sustainable Eastern Ontario website is a portal for all things sustainable in Eastern Ontario. The site was developed in order to combine the efforts of a number of key community initiatives such as the Green Pages Directory, National Capital Environmental Network directory, and a Green Map of Eastern Ontario. The intention was to create one central website where organization and business profiles could be shared between the different directory tools. This would ensure that organizations did not have to visit a number of different websites to update their information and profiles. By updating the contact info on the Sustainable Eastern Ontario site, it automatically update the profile for the Green Pages directory, NCEN listing, etc.
Board of Directors
Sustainable Eastern Ontario is currently seeking 2-3 more board members to assist in formalizing the internal structure of the organization. The intent of this board is to be an efficienct model of best-practice for other boards within the non-profit sector. It will meet quarterly by teleconference using interactive media and web-based applications for exchange. The Board will be a governance board to set direction and policy. The focus of the organization is on the initiatives and work being done by member organizations within the network and not on creating new initiatives, overlap, or duplication. Ultimately, the goal is to build capacity within the environmental sector within Eastern Ontario.
